Myofascial Release:

Myofascial means muscle and connective tissue. Myofascial release is a hands on sustained gentle stretch on the connective tissue. It allows plastic changes to occur on the connective tissue resulting in long-lasting effects.  In other words the body was holding on to tension/stress.  As the connective tissue becomes restricted the body begins to feel stiff, tight and rigid. This starts to create restrictions on the fascial system which further compresses your muscles, nerves, arteries, osseous structures, organ system and more. This starts to slow down the function of these systems causing headaches, pain, muscle cramps, numbness and tingling, decreased metabolism, and more.  Studies show that myofascial restrictions can produce tensile pressures of approximately 2,000 pounds per square inch. This will not show on any standard test (x-rays, myelograms, CAT scans, electromyography, etc.). Imagine fascia as a corset or weighted vest, no matter how much you move, you are limited. The effects of Myofacial Release is that of the corset being unzipped or a weighted vest being removed. The feeling is Euphoric! Myosfascial release decreases tension on the structures, increases mobility, therefore increasing oxygenation & blood flow to decrease inflammation and facilitate the body's own properties to heal.

Cranial Sacral Therapy:

Cranial Sacral Therapy seeks to restore your primary source of respiration. By applying a gentle stretch to the base of the neck and sacrum the cerebral spinal fluid (CSF) will start to balance. This plays an important role in the homeostasis (balance) and metabolism of the central nervous system . By maintaining the balance of your CSF the body will take on its Natural healing power,  further supporting your immune system. The stronger your immune system the more desirable your body is  to fight of infections, pneumonia, bronchitis and other immune dificient conditions.

Posture & Breathing:

The benefits of good posture will enhance your breathing abilities and increase your health and confidence.   Maintaining a good posture will increase the amount of oxygen you consume which further feeds your muscles to perform better.  Exhaling is as important as inhaling. Both are important for oxygen and carbon dioxide exchange. Maintaining an upright posture allows oxygen to flow from your brain down your spinal cord and back up. If your posture is impaired, the flow will be decreased, increasing tension on the spine and decreasing the flow of oxygen from the brain to the rest of your body. Less oxygen leads to more muscle breakdown, increased stress levels and decreased ability for your body to perform at optimal levels.

Pediatric Play:

Through play every child will develop the developmental skills from tummy time, rolling, sitting, crawling, creeping, standing transitions, walking, coordination, and balance. By developing these skills the child will gain confidence in self and reach their highest potential.  Our therapist combines manual skilled physical therapy to put the body and muscles in balance to function at its optimal efficiency.   Nutrition is a major component of our body’s fuel to move. We incorporate nutritional suggestions for both the child and family. As a team the child feels supported and can accomplish more.  Let’s play and have fun!!!

Corrective Exercise:

Corrective exercise is a fundamental foundation needed to function properly, move with grace and prevent injuries; both in activities of daily living and sport-specific.  Think of a building when it's  first being constructed, if the foundation is built  incorrectly the chances of it falling down is higher than if it was built properly. Building a strong foundation from the floor up is critical.  Developing a strong foundation will prepare the body to be Victorious and  adaptable to  situations.  Developing from the ground up will develop stabilty, strength, balance, flexibility, motor control, agility, coordination and more. All these components are critical to function on a daily basis and decrease  the risk of injury.  From the most simple tasks such as picking up a pen from the floor,  reaching for an object at your highest kitchen cabinet to competitive sports. The therapist is certified in functional movement screening and corrective exercises to bring the individual from uncoordinated motor movements to functional capabilities. If you are looking for the next level up we can take you to athlete status.

Kinesio Taping:

Kinesio Taping is used as a rehabilitative taping technique designed to aid the body’s natural healing process. Kinesio Tape provides support and stability to muscles and joints without restricting the body’s range of motion as well as promoting muscle activity. Kinesio Tape is safe for populations ranging from pediatric to geriatric, and successfully treats a variety of orthopedic, neuromuscular, neurological and other medical conditions. By targeting different receptors within the sensory nervous system, Kinesio Tape alleviates pain and facilitates lymphatic drainage.
